Prof. Jianguo Zhang is Director of Gastroenterology and Director of the Digestive Endoscopy Center at Aviation General Hospital. He focuses on early digestive cancer diagnosis and treatment, hepatobiliary-pancreatic endoscopic intervention, original NOEES techniques, and medical device translation.

His basic and clinical work focuses on hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastric, and intestinal disease. He has completed more than 10,000 minimally invasive digestive endoscopy procedures and has extensive experience in complex digestive disease, advanced endoscopic surgery, and emerging endoscopic techniques.

He has pioneered procedures including ultra-minimally invasive gallbladder endoscopy, FV-ESD for early digestive tumors, and endoscopic internal-external drainage conversion (ETID), and was among the first to propose and systematically develop the NOEES concept.

The transpapillary natural-orifice route reaches the gallbladder through the mouth, duodenum, bile duct, and cystic duct. It enables direct visualization, targeted pathology, and treatment without an abdominal incision.
